Where are the tutoring sessions held?
Tutoring can be held any place that works for the family and the funding source. If the funding source has certain structural requirements, tutoring can be done in a school, library, or office building. If there are no requirements, tutoring may be done in a student's home, office or anywhere the family desires.

    Where are piano lessons given?
In the past, piano lessons have been given in school buildings, homes, and anywhere there is a piano and a tolerance for noise. When there is no piano in a classroom or home, the tutor can bring a 48 key keyboard. This will generally last the student a few months until another solution can be found. There are also full length loaner pianos that are free to the family as long as they are taking lessons.

Do I pay for my piano books?
The family generally pays for the piano books. The teacher has some used books the family can purchase for one dollar if they are of the right level for the students. Initial books run generally under $20. The actual cost depends on the price of the book.

Do I need to pay for books for tutoring other than my school books?
If you are doing academic tutoring and the tutor needs an additional text book in order to review the lessons in advance, the tutor will generally pay for that. If you are tutoring for enrichment, the tutor may suggest a book to purchase depending on the subject.

If, after the first hour, you do not like the tutor, you do not need to pay for that session, nor any more sessions

Do we pay for tutoring sessions in advance?
People's schedules and needs change. Some people pay at each session. Others pay by the week, or count up their sessions at the end of the month, and pay monthly. This way you would not have to pay for sessions you do not use as you might if you paid in advance.

What forms of payments do you accept?
Any form of payment that is easy for you is fine with me. Some people prefer checks. Others pay electronically with PayPal or other form of payment. Cash is great too. Currently, we do not have the capability of accepting credit cards except through PayPal, but it is coming soon.

    Do you tutor all subjects?
The tutor can help with most subjects but there are some subjects that are beyond the scope of the tutor's knowledge. These include but are not limited to college physics, chemistry, and calculus. If you cannot find tutoring anywhere else, we will do our best to find a tutor who can meet your needs.

    May I have M - Th at 4:00?
4:00 M-Th is the most sought after time. It gives children time to get home and get a snack before starting on their homework. The best way to get this time is to be student with us for a year, and then start in mid-August to request that time. That is often impractical because people often do not know their schedules until the start to school and start after school activities.

Are all your tutoring sessions one to one, or do you have groups?
Tutoring has traditionally been done one to one. However, group tutoring is always a possibility depending on the needs and circumstances.

How early and how late in the day can we have tutoring?
For some students who need to study for a test that day, we have sessions before school. If you are up late finishing a paper or project, we can stay with you until the project is finished. Most tutoring, however, is done between 8 AM and 9 PM.

    What is your cancellation policy?
We would GREATLY appreciate it if you would give us 24 hours notice if you are not going to be home or need to cancel. With enough advance notice your spot can usually be filled. If you cancel suddenly or just forgot, and it is too late to be filled, most parents would pay for the session anyway because they had reserved it, and it is too late to put someone else in that hour.
